Garam masala is one of the most inevitable ingredient of many of Indian, especially north indian recipes. Mixing and grinding the spices each time is a laborious task. You can prepare the garam masala beforehand and it can be stored in air-tight containers or jars for months without losing its freshness.
Garam masala is prepared using various ingredients in various proportions in each part of the country or in each household. Here I am presenting an easy recipe for preparing garam masala.
Cinnamon 100 gram
Cardamom pods 100 gram
Cumin seeds 50 gram
Black pepper corns 50 gram
Cloves 50 gram
Coriander seeds 50 gram
Dry-roast the ingredients in a pan stirring them constantly.
Remove the husk from the cardamom pods, crush the cinnamon into small pieces.
Put all the ingredients into a mixer grinder and grind till all the ingredients are fully ground.
Allow to cool and store in an airtight container.
