Mashed Potatoes the traditional way

Mashed potatoes is a simple and delicious recipe which can be relished with a wide variety of side dishes. It can be enjoyed at any time of the day and is a favourite of young and old alike. Here we go for the simplest mashed potato recipe.

Ingredients

Potatoes (Baking potatoes) 500 gram

Garlic 3-4 cloves

Milk 1 cup

Butter 2 tablespoons

Pepper powder as per your taste

Salt to taste

Preparation

Peel the potatoes and cut them into medium sized pieces.

Peel the garlic cloves.

Boil water in a deep pan, add some salt, and add the potato pieces and garlic cloves to the boiling water and cook on medium flame till the potatoes are cooked and tender.

Boil the milk in a pan adding the butter and keep aside.

Drain the water from the potatoes using a sieve and transfer the drained potatoes to the pan.

Now mash the potatoes using a potato masher or a fork or the back of a spoon. Yu can achieve the best results using a stab mixer. But if you like it a bit coarse then use the fork or spoon to mash the potatoes.

Add the boiled milk, salt and pepper and mix it with the potatoes gently to a smooth cream.

Serve along with a piece of fried chicken and mushroom sauce.
